Nov 22, 2024–The Bezos Family Foundation, a long-time supporter of the SystemsGo rocketry engineering program, has announced the awarding of an additional $30,000 to the Fredericksburg, Texas-based nonprofit organization.

“We are blessed that the Bezos Family Foundation understands and values the impact that the SystemsGo program has on students’ futures,” said George Burns, Program Director. “We are extremely grateful for their generosity in the form of this Director’s Gift, as well as their ongoing support over the years.”

The funds, designated as a “Director’s Gift,” will be used to further the goals of SystemsGo, an innovative high school rocketry/aerospace engineering curriculum that uses project-based learning to teach science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); to develop workforce skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership; and to encourage careers in the engineering industries.

Students design and develop unmanned aerial vehicles for research or industrial applications. The program, developed at Fredericksburg (TX) High School in 1996, is now utilized in more than 50 high schools in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma and Abu Dhabi UAE. Graduates work in leadership positions at NASA, SpaceX, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and other prestigious industries and schools across the country.

The Bezos Family Foundation is a private, independent foundation established by Jackie and Mike Bezos, whose vision is that all young people are prepared to achieve their full potential and make a meaningful contribution to society. Their annual director giving is an opportunity for the Foundation’s leadership to support organizations doing meaningful work that aligns with the mission, but that may not necessarily be a fit for a standard grant.
