scripps foundationOct 23, 2023–The Adam R Scripps Foundation has awarded a three-year grant totaling $165,000 to SystemsGo, the Fredericksburg, Texas-based nonprofit organization that provides curricula and training in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education to high schools in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Abu Dhabi.

“We at SystemsGo are very grateful for this gift from the Adam R. Scripps Foundation,” said George Burns, Program Director. “It will go a long way to improve, maintain, and host our flagship launch event in Stonewall, Texas, giving students the best opportunity to test their year-long rocket projects safely in real life. The gift is especially meaningful because the award was announced to us by Ray Granado, ARSF Advisory Board Member, who was in the program the year Brett Williams and his students conceived it.”

The grant includes a one-time $75,000 award earmarked toward improving the Central Texas Launch site based on the Segner Ranch in Stonewall. The award includes three additional $30,000 grants sponsoring the launch events in 2024, 2025, and 2026.

SystemsGo is an innovative hands-on high school engineering set of courses that uses project-based learning to stimulate 21st Century workplace skills, using science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The Central Texas Launch site is one of four active sites in Texas and New Mexico, which altogether launch more than 150 rockets built by 2000 students at 75 high schools.
